You are not required to take your youth wrestler to any tournaments. However while practice is great, it helps your wrestler take the next step by seeing their hard work in practice pay off in a tournament setting. There are two types of individual tournaments: Skill based and MN/USA State Qualifiers.
Skill based tournaments are perfect for the beginning wrestler. They allow you to select your wrestlers skill level and will try to pair up kids accordingly to grade, size and skill. Regardless of years in the sport until your wrestler has won a couple different tournaments we encourage you to select 'Beginner' as the skill level. There are minimal additional fees for these tournaments paid directly to the tournament when you arrive, entry and spectator fees.
Our Coaches encourage you to attend the tournaments that we have selected on our schedule. This will allow us to travel, warm-up and socialize as a team. Information prior to each tournament will be communicated via TeamSnap.
Farmington also hosts a skill based home tournament. Your entry for this tournament is covered in your registration fee.
The second type of tournaments are MN/USA State Qualifiers. These do tend to have a higher level of competition. Wrestlers are divided by age and weight, skill is not factored into your bracket placement.
